REALTOR®

At work: (Describe what you do.)  I am a Realtor and I love helping my clients achieve their personal/investment goals through Real Estate. My clients range from first time home buyers, investors, sellers, military, relocation, vacation rentals, off market properties and private financing sales, all with budgets ranging from $100,000 to $1,000,000+ and I am honored to serve each one. The one thing that I love about my career, is that I never have the same day twice, literally. One of my favorite parts of my career is problem solving and getting creative to create a “Win/Win” for not only my clients but with the other parties involved. I will always find solutions and think outside the box for my clients which is imperative to retaining their trust and using me again for their Real Estate needs. My business is almost all Referal based and word of mouth or sign call, which I am very proud of. I work hard and do whatever needs to be done 7 days a week but I have so much fun and passion doing it while helping my clients achieve their goals, it never feels like work. I truly love what I do and I believe it is clear to my clients.  Home and family: I have lived in Virginia Beach for the past 9 years after moving from my native state, Arizona. I am a single mom with two amazing children, Eva (12) and Luke (9) and our dog, River. I do not share too much of my personal life to randoms so call me and I will tell you all about it!!  I was born and raised in Arizona and attended Arizona State University graduating with a double major from the W.P Carey School of Business and the Hugh Downs School of Communications. I come from a long family line of entrepreneurs and decided to attend The Arizona School of Real Estate and Business after graduating college and obtained my Real Estate license.  Volunteer activities:  Hampton Roads Realtor Association Board of Directors ReSale- Chair Realtors Have a Heart- Chair Volunteer of the Year- 2020 Chairman’s Award for Outstanding Service- 2018 Community Involvement Advisory Chair Different Non Profits I organized Realtors Have a Heart events at: Edmarc Ronald McDonald House The Union Mission  Camp Hope Haven The Virginia Zoo H.E.R Shelter Holiday Toy Drive for SHR schools JCOC ***HRRA actually created the CIA (Community Involvement Advisory) council because I had grown Realtors Have a Heart so much they thought it deserved the attention and HRRA paid staff that ReSale Council did. When I was given the option to chair the new Committee and lose my board seat at HRRA or stay on as ReSale Chair and keep my board seat, I made the obvious choice. I chose the CIA to grow Realtors Have a Heart even with the complex and challenges of COVID times and I did!!***  Habitat For Humanity Habitat for Heroes Golf Tournament- Committee Board Member HFH Women’s Build- Committee Board Member  HFH Frontline Heroes Build- Board Chair Woman HFH Development Committee Board Member Donator  HFH Volunteer of the year 2021 Saint Gregory the Great Catholic School SGGS Golf Tournament- Committee Member SGGS Saints Ball- Committee Member  SGGS Soccer Coach- 4 years (multiple teams) SGGS Volunteer- Library and classrooms SGGS Donator- Sponsor for SGGS Golf Tournaments, Super Saints     Raffle, Fun Run, Saints Ball SGGS Substitute Teacher Home Depot/Habitat For Humanity/VFW 1 Day Veteran Whole Home Makeover project  When I took over ReSale Council/Realtors Have a Heart, I had this idea to give back to a deserving Military Veteran and completely change their life by remodeling their distressed home in “1 day”. I dream really big and never take no for an answer, even for me this was a big dream. When you surround yourself with people who are amazing, it is achievable. I enlisted an amazing team and we were able to completely transform 2 deserving vets homes with an estimation of about $175,000 of work and over 200 volunteers/sponsors. All of this was donated by our team/sponsors, the recipient never had to pay a dime. We were in the middle of planning our 3rd year and Covid hit so we had to cancel, it literally hurt my soul but we understood the safety reasons. I know we will gather our team together again because we want to continue to help these Military Vets and their families. In 2022 I have helped a single Veteran mom (VB) with twin Autistic boys completely rehab her home in partnership with, HFH, VFW, Dominion Power, Home Depot and the Virginia Autism Foundation, totaling over $150,000. I am currently working on a disabled Veteran and active duty Navy couple (Chesapeake) who had their dream house become a nightmare, at no fault to them. I have partnered with VFW and Home Depot to do another massive renovations to make their home livable and beautiful again at zero cost to them. This project will be completed by the end of 2022.  Street United Non Profit- Soccer  Fundraising and awareness member  Donator  This is my recent passion project. I really want these under privileged kids get a chance to play highly competitive soccer in the best training facility, best coaching, transportation, uniforms, tournament, travel fees and meals to be provided and not feeling that they are lesser because they were not born into the economic privileges others were. My daughter plays competitive soccer and I do not like the idea of her thinking she is competing against the best, she isn’t and she knows that and she doesn’t like it either. Any child should be given the opportunity to succeed in something they love, regardless of economic status. This is a big issue that no one wants to address. I am so thankful for Street United, letting me tag along trying to help them with their mission to let kids be kids and play soccer. We are in need of sponsors and awareness to let these kids have a chance to grow their talents, play soccer and have a reason to stay out of trouble.   2021-2022— Wrote a Grant request and was able to have Street United awarded $7,000 donation from Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation which was the largest Foundation donation in the region to date. This directly impacted over 30 at risk youth in my community the chance to play soccer at a competitive level.  Motivating factor: (What motivates you.)  My kids, hands down. It is not easy to have me as their mom. I am always being pulled in many directions at one time and sometimes they just need me to be their mom. I know that and you better believe every evening we are together and present. This causes me to stay up late working at my desk. I would never change that because, as I am working late into the night, while they are asleep, I am remembering the smiles, conversations, laughter and stress melt away from their day because they have their mom with them and she was present/focused on their needs. We went through a very traumatic experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone a little over 7 years ago. This also made me realize how strong I could be and needed to be, for my kids. We made lemonade out of lemons and decided to always look at the positive over the negative. We made a lot of fun “memories” during that time when most people would quit, we never did and even better, we never felt sorry for ourselves and thrived. I promised them that everything would always be ok and I never break a promise. I learned during that time that nothing matters except being happy inside and doing your best every single day while making all the memories. I know that my kids taught me lessons bigger than they could ever realize. We got through it together and came out so much stronger than I could ever imagine. They are my inspiration and I know I am theirs. I need to lead by example and they are watching me closely.  Leaving this life better than I found it. My volunteer work is a huge part of my life. I am so grateful that I have the contacts and determination to help others less fortunate and we do it in a massive life changing way. At my desk I have many quotes of inspiration, one of them says,  “Never Doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”- Margaret Mead Advice to young people:  THE PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO BE HAPPY… Do what makes you happy, the rest will fall into place. Always give before you take. Also, do not take yourself too seriously, make sure you have some fun and make the memories. If I had a bad day, I always need to laugh before bed. Sometimes I put on a T-Rex inflatable Dino suite and ran up and down my street with my dog in the full moon glow laughing so hard I am crying. I love to fish, it relaxes me. Find what make you happy and want to wake up and do it. Or don’t. The choice is always yours. People will be negative, learn to recognize that they want to be happy too and you should help them. I find that always having an extra inflatable T-Rex suite with to share with them will always do the trick. You can laugh even harder with a new friend and teach them life isn’t that serious. You won’t make it out alive, so be angry or be happy, either way, you die. Make sure you dance in the rain and smile at the beauty of today with the excitement of tomorrow. THE PURPOSE IN LIFE IS TO BE HAPPY… Professional goal in five years:  I definitely want to continue to grow I Sell 757, Inc, at the level I have been able to achieve year after year. I am also committed to growing my investments in rental properties, that is bought, rented and managed by my company. I truly LOVE my job and so excited everyday to work as hard as I can.   The one thing I'd change about Hampton Roads:  The Infrastructure of the city planning and roadways. It makes no sense to the growth of the area and unnecessary accidents and delays caused by them. I basically live in my car and drive all over Hampton Roads daily, so definitely this is always top of mind and probably the only thing I cannot stand.  Region's biggest asset:  MILITARY, no question on that. Our military and their families is what makes this area so special. Hampton Roads is such a mixing pot of cultures and people who want the best for their Businesses/ Families and Community they live in. Downtime: What the heck is that?  What really gets under my skin:  Judging others. We have no idea people’s internal battles and it really hurts my soul when I see/hear/read other people purposely hurting others and judging someone.

Client Testimonials

Alexandra's clients talk about her service and professionalism.

"Alex was always readily available and made me feel as though my satisfaction and comfort with my sale was her priority."

"Alexandra Serrano is now my most trusted realtor having worked with her for years on several home purchases and sales. She is an overall amazing person and a fantastic realtor! She handled the sale of our home expertly and delivered exactly what she estimated would be the sale price. I felt comfortable talking through all aspects of the sale, I always felt like my concerns were heard and resolved, and I knew that she had my best interest at the front of each conversation.

I will continue to refer her to all my friends, family, and strangers because I know she has been consistently respectful and trustworthy throughout all the years I have worked with her. I trust her for the biggest transactions in my life and I would always choose her for my real estate support! Thank you Alex!"

"Alex did a wonderful job helping us to choose a good neighborhood in a large area that we had limited knowledge of when looking. We are close to stores, restaurants, interstate, etc and she even got both my wife and I to less than 15 minutes away from work. She did amazing with our negotiation and got us repair work that needed to be done before moving in and even made sure a piece that got missed was added in after the fact. She stayed with us through many ups and downs during this still absolutely insane market and always encouraged us when we were having doubts and struggling to continue with the process due to losing multiple bids."
